Something Kinda Like: The Cold War -- Winter

I've talked about it way too much on DeviantArt and never showed anyone yet. The song used is WINTER (instrumental version), originally performed by Yasuhiro Takato (as Russia) from Axis Powers Hetalia.

Oh hey. SKL stuff.

Listening to: Evacuate the Dance Floor
My brothe
r graduated today. I don't wuv him at all. I won't miss him at all.... *sniff* U-Uwah....I don't care if he's spending the summer at home until September....*wibblewhimper* Urrrgh. ANYWAY. I finished my final project for History. it turned out to be quite a winner. I'll be posting all my completed illustrations that went into it. All these characters are part of my franchise(?) thingy called Something Kinda Like. All the characters are based on politics, military bodies, populations....pretty much making it a not-plaigarism-of-Hetalia-and-purposefully-educational.

Here are my character designs for East and West Germany. Top: I made WG look more outgoing and open, but kind of naive and curious. I gave him wings on his outfit as a representation of democracy.
Bottom: EG was my favorite to draw throughout the whole project. His patched eye is supposed to represent the west side of Berlin, which was divided amongst the western allies. He holds a sickle and hammer, the symbols of communism-- as well as a star on his clothing. My inspirations for his design were
Crona from Soul Eater, and Ciel Phantomhive from Kuroshitsuji. He turned out to be my little ball of moe.

More Chara designs.
Top:
When I created him, he was meant to represent the Soviet Union. Then, his meaning kinda morphed over time-- representing the actual unity of the Communist nations, or of Communism itself. I meant for him to be an affable yangire. I tried to make him intimidating as well as almost handsome...even though he's a chibi. I think I pulled it off pretty well, though. He was inspired by Alucard from Hellsing.
Bottom Left:
He represents the Russian military, who watches over EG like a big brother. In fact, he was born from doodles I would draw in my planner of a boy in a hat and scarf with clothes too big for him...and he became this. He's usually very serious, competitive, and strategic. Because it's cold in Russia, he always wears a long coat and scarf. There is almost always a star motif on his outfits. He was (very subconsciously) modeled after Kino from Kino's Journey.
Bottom Right:
He represents the U.S. military, he watches over WG. Now, now, is anyone takes offense to this, I apologize-- I'm an American as well.....but, the objective of this project was to demonize the west in the form of propaganda-- it was kinda necessary. I was never sure what his outfits should look like, but I always kept the wing motifs--it added a nice patriotic touch. I always thought of marine and civil war hats for him, because I didn't want to draw helmets. Come to think of it..... most of them wear hats.... ; c;

I'll post more pics and the video itself in my next post, hopefully, it's a lot including pictures I didn't use....

.....Now for something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT~! :D

This pic is supposed to be a parody of the ending song for the anime K-On. Yes, that's our Esa. That's me, Artie. The other two are our significant others. = u=
This was actually meant to be figure drawing practice. I still can't decide where certain limbs should go. @_@ Youkai is a bit of a challenge. I want her legs to be positioned in a more interesting standing position-- either that, or a normal stance with a more interesting arm movement.

Good night, sleep night, dream of....stuff and nonsense.

Oh my gosh cherries cherries cherries!

Oh my gosh, I love cherries. My dad came home today and told me there was a bag of cherries on the kitchen table.

At any rate! A production update! I'm currently working on my History Final, which is an ABC book. I'll be posting my pages up here, since I should probably do SOMETHING. So that's fun.
Let's see... I'm currently... "Discussing" the story of Pure Evil with Artie. *hides story bat*
Ahhh, so ja. That's in the works. Character sketches will be spread rather well among artists, and I'm sure our 4koma (four-panel comics) addictions will seep through to here, so you guys will definitely have something to see.
Ja... I guess I should finally load some art. Well, this is a bit old, but it should tide you over.

This is Chibipoleon. A history project that somehow evolved and mutated into his own insanity.
He's like a little kid who believes with all his heart that he's something great, but everyone is just "Oh, child."

At any rate! That's all for today!!

Ready or Not, Here I Am!

YEAH BABY!! Alex is in the blog (never mind the bad pun).

Sup everyone? I would love to intro myself, I am Alex (formally known by Artie as Winry, Husband, Damn Sadist, and Dirty Bastard), and I have come to tell you that I will be posting a snippit of my all new short story called "Le Cirque du Deforme" which is French (I Hope) for Circus of the Deformed.

Also, here is an AMV I made. It can also be seen on Youtube.

Pure Evil sketches.

Watching Glee. I officially love that show.
Summer vacation is so very soon! I want to do some posting before school ends Alex heads off to Texas. I've been working on my final project for History class, so I'll be putting up some sketches from that.

Here are sketches from a work-in-progress called
Pure Evil. It's about a little demonlike child who claims to be the heir of the earth's domination. He tries every day as he learns about how to be "evil", but in the meantime he lives in a flower shop with a handsome narcoleptic man who takes him in as a little companion. Lotsa cuteness and hilarity will ensue. I'm working to make this a strip-comic rather than a story-style comic.

Here is my first design of the lead character. In the end I stuck with design #2 and worked around it. He is meant to be rather ambitious and pushy, also quite a tsundere. He likes to practice being a king and his authoritative roar. His working name at the moment is Lionel, or Nell for short. I have more designs for other characters: This is our lead's right-hand man...boy....thing. he's quite a cherub, isn't he? He's meant to be cute and always holding his blankie. He's usually asleep and takes frequent naps. He enjoys blowing things up in his free time, being a weapons expert. I'm working around my second and third designs of him, with his downturned horns and straight hair. I modeled him after Tamama from Keroro Gunsou (Sgt. Frog), Mikuru from Haruhi Suzumiya, and Hunny from Ouran Host Club. His working name at the moment is Dezzie.

This is their second-in-command, and our lead's older brother. He's a total gentleman and speaks poetically, but was deemed unfit to rule the world. I accidentally modeled him after Austria from Axis Powers Hetalia. I may need to draw more designs of him-- it turned out too perfect the first try!

Merry summer to all, and to all a good night.

A Challenger Approaches!! ... Or Something Like That.

Listening to: Goodbye, Friend (Case Analysis Music from Touch Detective)

Hello, everyone! As of June fifth, 2010, The two-person team of SHOCK: Shojo Revolution is no more; rather, a third author/artist is introduced! I'm Esabelle Ryngin, pleased to meet you!
You might say that it's quite peculiar for a group that's been around for about a year to have done close to nothing publicly before another member is introduced. I know I would. *glares at Artie and Alex* At any rate, I'll do my best to make sure there are at least bi-monthly updates of our new stories, characters, and news articles simply regarding SSR.

My specialty is 4koma (Four-panel) comedy strips, but I'll dabble into other genres when necessary. I'm fairly proficient at editing, so I'll be helping out Artie and Alex more often than not (The truth is, I'm a lackey for now)!

While I'm just a lowly servant for now, I'm still working on my own stories to introduce and integrate into SSR. Please don't be too cruel to the doormat!

ART.

Hah, I haven't made a post since my very first post. And look! I have followers!

Well.... the colorguard winter season is over, as of about three weeks ago- our team o\won the AIA in the preliminary round and the final! It's my first season of winterguard, so I thank the whole squad. ^ ^

Look- a drawing!

Uhh... I've done better, really. This is England and Canada from Axis Powers Hetalia. I did this with Crayola markers.
What's interesting is that I did the colors first, then did the outline. Basically, it all looked like scribbles at first. Then I used the black to do the outline, and black kiddie markers are very forgiving when they're not fresh out of the box.
